Hair Transplant in Dubai

The hair care industry is seeing a huge leap in hair products promising to meet unrealistic expectations. With the progressive achievements of hair transplant procedures, a long-term solution for hair fall is possible.

Healthy hair grows at a rate of 0.35 mm in a day. Though an average person normally sheds 50-150 strands of hair daily, a person with severe hair loss sees much less hair volume within a short time. Hair loss is growing at an alarming rate more in men than women after a certain age. However, people as young as 18 years old are also experiencing some form of hair loss which leads to baldness.

Your hair is equally important as your health, and retrieving these healthy locks is the primary goal of hair transplant surgeons in Dubai. The first hair transplant was performed in 1952 by a Dermatologist in New York, Dr. Norman Orentreich. Since then, the procedure evolved significantly to append features and advanced techniques for an effective outcome. The procedure has gained worldwide acceptance making it one of the most valued cosmetic surgeries in Dubai.

What is a hair transplant procedure?

A hair transplant is a surgical procedure that redistributes hair from the back of the scalp to the bald areas . The hair follicles shrink during an extreme hair loss which results in baldness. However, our scalp has its source of healthy follicles mostly at the rear end of the head or other body parts. During a hair transplant procedure, follicles from these areas are extracted by your surgeon and placed onto the bald area.

Types of hair transplant

A hair transplant procedure generally falls in either of the three categories:

In some cases, your surgeon will use a combination of techniques such as the inclusion of Hair Re-growth treatment after hair transplant or using body or beard hair combined with scalp hair providing excellent results. A combination of FUT and FUE technique can also be used in some cases to yield good results.

Who might benefit from a hair transplant?

Men and women from all races suffering from hair loss can undergo hair transplant treatment. However, for an effective result from a hair transplant procedure the patient should be:

  • In good health
  • Have considerable donor areas of the healthy hair follicles
  • Have realistic expectations of the hair transplant results.

A hair transplant procedure is effective for people with the following conditions.

  • Androgenic alopecia or male pattern baldness
  • Hair loss due to hormonal changes as in Thyroid diseases.
  • Traumatic injuries or burns on the scalp.
  • Localized Alopecia areata – a disease where your immune system attacks your hair follicles.

With the expert guidance of your surgeon, a personalized treatment plan can help with hair loss issues. Dr. Anshu Mishra has several years of experience in treating patients from all walks of life with positive outcomes.

What happens during a hair transplant?

Though the hair transplant methods differ, the basic procedure remains the same – extracting healthy follicles and transferring them to the affected area.

  • Initially, the surgeon will clean your scalp and inject local anesthesia to numb the donor area.
  • Depending on the method of choice, your surgeon will remove the follicles from the donor area.
  • In FUE, the back of the head is shaved, and your surgeon will remove hair follicles one by one using a special instrument.
  • However, in FUT, the surgeon will take out a strip of skin containing hair follicles from the back of your head and suture the scalp to close the wound in a special manner ( trichophytic closure) so that the scar is covered by the surrounding hair .
  • Next, this strip is cut down to harvest tiny grafts each with an individual hair follicle.
  • Once the extraction process is completed, the bald area is cleaned, local anaesthesia is administered and tiny holes are made to insert the hair follicles.

What happens during a hair transplant?

After surgery, the scalp feels heavy due to the numbing agent and the procedure . Your surgeon will prescribe antibiotics, anti-inflammatory, and pain medication during the recovery period. You will notice the following changes after the surgery.

After 2 to 3 weeks of surgery, the transplanted hair starts falling out making way for the transplanted hair.

Most people return to work within 2 to 3 days after the procedure.

New hair will completely grow within 9 to 12 months after the surgery.

In some cases, medicines to support hair growth are also prescribed to improve the result.
